Why the cable doesn't have a single price, and where a rural surcharge applies
SKV's regional fibre network can carry more than SKV-branded subscriptions; other providers publish offers referencing SKV access with different monthly prices and conditions. A fair network comparison keeps the provider as a separate choice. For SKV's own plans, read the dated tariff and the conditional rural surcharge together.

What SKV network is, how it relates to the providers that use it and what it means for your home connection.
SKV’s regional fibre network can carry more than the SKV-branded retail subscription. Freedom and Onvi also publish offers referencing SKV access, with different monthly prices and conditions. That is why a network comparison should preserve the provider as a separate choice rather than attach one “SKV price” to the cable. For SKV’s own retail products, the dated September 2026 tariff and the conditional rural surcharge need to be read together. For another provider, use its own contract and postcode result rather than automatically copying SKV’s router or campaign.
The physical network brings the connection into the building. Your retail provider supplies the subscription, router arrangements and customer service. On an open network you may be able to choose several providers, but their prices, available speeds and installation arrangements can differ on the same fibre. A network name on the connection box does not automatically identify the company that should bill you for internet.
What to check before relying on SKV network at a particular address, and what has to happen before the connection works.
Check postcode, house number and apartment suffix with the chosen provider. A network’s presence in the area does not confirm a finished connection inside this particular dwelling, the selected speed or an immediate activation date. If the result says pre-order, ask what construction and service steps remain. Fibre in the street, a completed connection inside the home and an activated subscription are different stages. Check whether the dwelling has its own fibre termination point and whether the provider can activate it. If construction or an appointment is still required, use the confirmed delivery date rather than the street’s rollout announcement when planning a move or cancelling an existing connection.

Check whether the dwelling has its own fibre termination point and whether the provider can activate it. If construction or an appointment is still required, use the confirmed delivery date rather than the street’s rollout announcement when planning a move or cancelling an existing connection. First establish whether the rented dwelling already has its own finished connection. New cabling through common areas, a building entry point or drilling may involve the landlord or owners’ association. An internet subscription does not itself confirm permission for building work. Give the provider the full address, including the apartment suffix, and confirm who will arrange access before scheduling installation.

Common questions about SKV network, from coverage and installation to switching providers on the same connection.
The physical network brings the connection into the building. Your retail provider supplies the subscription, router arrangements and customer service. On an open network you may be able to choose several providers, but their prices, available speeds and installation arrangements can differ on the same fibre. Yes. The published FAQ describes a €5-per-month rural surcharge for qualifying addresses. It should be added only when the address meets those conditions, not attached to every SKV plan. Compare the dated regular tariff and the surcharge together; older starting prices on a homepage can conceal that difference.
SKV’s current conditions allow it to ask a non-owner for evidence of the authorised owner’s permission. Check this if new cabling or connection work is required in a rental home. Giving the provider an address is not the same as arranging access to shared areas or authorisation to change the building.
No assumption should be made. The regional offer can refer to a different access network, campaign or contract. In particular, a TV promotion’s duration does not prove the internet term, and a discounted monthly amount without a stated duration cannot produce a reliable contract total. Use the network and terms returned for the full address.
Download is used when receiving files or streams; upload is used for cloud backups, sending large files and your outgoing video during calls. A symmetric fibre tier advertises the same rate in both directions. Compare the two figures separately: a gigabit cable download does not imply a gigabit upload, and a higher headline download alone does not show how quickly a household can send data.

Check whether the dwelling has its own fibre termination point and whether the provider can activate it. There is no single subscription price attached to this network. Providers can differ in contract, equipment, installation and active access operator. Compare an actual offer on this route; do not import a price from the same provider on another network or from a future rollout announcement.
