DSL, fibre and 5G Internet Thuis, with upload speed and router rules explained
KPN's retail range covers fixed internet over DSL or fibre and a separate 5G home service. For fixed lines, the address determines both technology and available speed, so compare upload as well as download if you back up files or work from home. Replacing your router is a different job from replacing the optical terminal.

What sets KPN apart, how its offers are put together and what renters should know before choosing it.
KPN offers two quite different routes into the home: fixed-line DSL or fibre, and the separate 5G Internet Thuis service. For fixed internet, the address determines both the connection technology and the available speed; the SuperFiber range starts at 200 Mbps and extends to 4 Gbps on suitable fibre connections. Compare the upload as well as the download if you back up files or work from home. KPN’s own-router support is useful for an existing home network, but the optical terminal and router are different devices. For a temporary home, compare its flexible contract against the setup charges rather than treating every KPN plan as monthly cancellable from the start.
KPN publishes requirements for both. Replacing the Wi-Fi router is a different job from replacing the optical terminal. Above 1 Gbps, an older own terminal can be unsuitable and a move to PON can require different equipment. Check the exact connection before buying hardware; keep a working provider setup available for fault diagnosis.
The allowance is daily: after 20 GB at full speed in that day, the connection is limited to 10 Mbps. It is not a monthly 20 GB package. A large game download or cloud backup can use much of a day’s high-speed allowance, so consider when those transfers run instead of comparing only the router’s 5G label.

20 GB at full speed per day; afterwards the connection is limited to 10 Mbps. This is a daily allowance, not a monthly 20 GB plan.
Check your postcode and house number: availability depends on the individual address.
The Wi-Fi router and suitable home-network accessories move with you according to KPN’s checklist. The fixed copper or fibre connection and the listed optical connection boxes, including their power supply, stay at the old property. Arrange the new-address service separately: moving the router does not activate a line at the new home.
KPN sells its plans over these networks. The network at your address can change the speed, the price and the installation of the same plan.

KPN’s fixed-line tariff is not an all-speed flat price: the standard fibre tiers rise from €45 for 200 Mbps to €70 for 4 Gbps. A higher speed therefore needs a real capacity benefit to justify the recurring difference. The flexible-term option must be quoted separately because KPN’s public pages disagree about its supplement. Do not use a fixed-term price as the flexible price. The recorded offers differ by technology, speed, network and term. Examples: Snel 100 (12 months): €44.00; Sneller 200 (12 months): €45.00; Sneller 200 (12 months): €45.00. These examples describe different selections, not benefits that can be stacked. Use the full price explanation of the variant you would actually order, including its later price and setup conditions.

Compare the minimum term first, then the cancellation notice, activation costs, installation timing and equipment return conditions. A low promotional month can be poor value if it requires a year or two of payments. A monthly option is only useful when the connection can actually be activated during your stay; ask for the start date and any one-off charges before ordering.
Every link to the device must support the intended speed: the fibre terminal, router’s WAN and LAN ports, any switch, the network adapter and cabling. A 1 Gbps Ethernet port limits one wired device even when the subscription is faster. A multi-gigabit plan can also share capacity across several devices; it does not promise that one phone will achieve the full advertised rate over Wi-Fi.
The inspected 5G Internet Thuis information excludes those fixed services. Treat it as its own internet product, with its own eligibility and router setup, rather than a wireless copy of a DSL or SuperFiber bundle. If you need conventional television or a fixed telephone number, compare the alternatives explicitly before choosing this route.
