Netwerk Kabelnoord: the open fibre infrastructure, and how it differs from the Kabelnoord provider

The physical network brings the connection into the building. Your retail provider supplies the subscription, router arrangements and customer service. On an open network you may be able to choose several providers, but their prices, available speeds and installation arrangements can differ on the same fibre. A network name on the connection box does not automatically identify the company that should bill you for internet.

The current offer distinguishes a regular monthly-cancellable subscription without a promotional discount from one- and two-year campaign choices. Match the price to the selected term instead of using an old general-conditions document to overwrite the current order. For a short stay, compare the regular monthly choice and its setup costs.

Fibre in the street, a completed connection inside the home and an activated subscription are different stages. Check whether the dwelling has its own fibre termination point and whether the provider can activate it. If construction or an appointment is still required, use the confirmed delivery date rather than the street’s rollout announcement when planning a move or cancelling an existing connection.

The current FAQ asks for at least one month’s notice for a move inside the delivery area, with the service date agreed together. Outside the delivery area or where the service cannot be delivered, ask about the stated cancellation process. The modem remains provider property; confirm whether to move or return it rather than leaving it behind as part of the building.

Download is used when receiving files or streams; upload is used for cloud backups, sending large files and your outgoing video during calls. A symmetric fibre tier advertises the same rate in both directions. Compare the two figures separately: a gigabit cable download does not imply a gigabit upload, and a higher headline download alone does not show how quickly a household can send data.

Not necessarily. The subscription controls capacity to the router; walls, distance, interference and the receiving device affect the wireless connection inside the home. Compare a wired speed test with a Wi-Fi test near the router before paying for a higher tier. A better router position, an Ethernet cable or correctly placed mesh points can address a different bottleneck from the internet subscription.

There is no single subscription price attached to this network. Providers can differ in contract, equipment, installation and active access operator. Compare an actual offer on this route; do not import a price from the same provider on another network or from a future rollout announcement.
