A rijtjeswoning (literally 'row house') is the Dutch term for a terraced or row house. This type of dwelling is arguably the most common and iconic form of single-family housing in the Netherlands, defining the landscape of countless suburban neighborhoods built from the post-war period to the present day. A rijtjeswoning is characterized by being part of a row of identical or similar houses linked by party walls. They typically have two or three floors, a small front garden (voortuin), and a more private back garden (achtertuin).
