About Evides

Who Evides is, where it supplies drinking water and what renters should check first.

Evides supplies drinking water in a southwest Netherlands service area spanning Zeeland and parts of South Holland and western North Brabant. Its online choice guide helps distinguish a move, a new customer and an extra address. For renters, the key questions are who pays the supplier, which meter belongs to the home, and which readings apply at key handover.

Where Evides supplies water

The official list includes Rotterdam and much of Zeeland, but municipal exceptions matter: Wateringse Veld in The Hague is included, while Rotterdam's Nesselande is in Dunea's list. In Bergen op Zoom, Evides names Halsteren and Lepelstraat. A city name alone is insufficient.

Your Evides account, step by step

From registering a new home to the final bill: how Evides handles each step, with a direct link to the official page for it.

  1. Step 1

    Register a home with Evides

Register through Evides when you have received the keys, using that day's meter reading. Before handover, the registration page offers an email reminder rather than a completed registration. If a housing association has explicitly agreed to arrange registration, check that agreement and its confirmation. Before registering, check your tenancy agreement and ask who holds the water account. A separate meter does not by itself prove that you need a direct contract: the landlord may invoice the water. Confirm the arrangement to avoid paying twice.

  2. Step 2

    Meter readings for Evides

For manual entry, Evides asks for the black whole-cubic-metre digits, not the red decimal digits; its flow can also accept a meter photo. A moving reading belongs in the moving flow, while the annual reading normally follows a supplier request. Where the home has a meter, check that it serves your home, especially in a shared meter cupboard. Follow the supplier’s display instructions and do not invent a reading if access is impossible. Ask the landlord or building manager for access or a dated reading. For a genuinely unmetered home, confirm the applicable billing arrangement instead.

    Submit a reading
  3. Step 3

    Moving with Evides

Use the moving choice guide after receiving or returning the keys. Evides allows an extra address during an overlap. If the key date changes or the move involves its Belgian border service area, contact customer service rather than forcing an unsuitable online address. At each key handover, record the actual reading and meter number if the home has a meter, photograph the display and keep the handover report. For an unmetered supply, confirm the supplier’s or landlord’s billing arrangement instead. Use the dates you receive and return the keys, which may differ from the day you move your belongings. Keep the supplier’s confirmation and a forwarding address for the final bill.

  4. Step 4

    Bills and tariffs at Evides

The advance covers estimated consumption, fixed charges and taxes. Evides lets customers adjust it in Mijn Evides. Its tariff page explains that standard estimates may be used if no expected consumption is supplied; check the assumption against your household instead of accepting it as your measured use. An instalment is an advance, not an all-inclusive price. For a metered supply, compare opening and closing readings; for an unmetered supply, verify the applicable units or billing category. Check the billing dates, consumption, fixed charges and tax lines on the settlement. A short tenancy or low consumption does not automatically remove applicable fixed charges. Use the current official tariff schedule rather than a national average to budget.

Questions about Evides

Answers about registering, moving, meter readings, bills and water quality with Evides, based on its official pages.

I signed the lease but do not have the keys yet. Can Evides complete my registration?

Evides asks you to register once you have received the keys and can give the reading from that day. Before then, its registration and moving pages offer an email reminder. That reminder helps you remember the task; it is not confirmation that the new supply account is already registered.

Will my housing association automatically register me with Evides?

Evides's registration guidance tells tenants to register themselves unless they have made a different arrangement with the housing association. Check what was actually agreed and ask for confirmation. Having a tenancy agreement or an existing water connection does not by itself show that Evides has your registration.

Can I send Evides a photo instead of typing the meter reading?

Yes, the meter-reading process supports taking or uploading a photo. If you enter it manually, Evides asks for the black whole-number digits, not the red decimals. Use the moving process for a handover reading; the normal annual submission follows Evides's reading request.

Why might my first Evides advance be based on a standard household estimate?

For an existing account, Evides looks at earlier use; for a new customer, household size or an expected annual volume helps set the advance. Its tariff page describes a standard estimate if no expected use is provided. Check that assumption and adjust the advance in Mijn Evides if it does not fit your household.

Does Evides supply every address in Rotterdam and The Hague?

No. Evides's area list includes The Hague's Wateringse Veld, while Dunea's list includes Rotterdam's Nesselande. Municipal names are therefore insufficient for deciding who supplies a particular home. Check the full address through the official supplier finder before starting a registration.

What does Evides's postcode water-quality lookup actually tell me?

It identifies information about the production location supplying your area. That is more useful than assuming one composition or hardness value applies across Evides's whole region. It is not a laboratory test of your flat's internal pipes; discuss suspected building-plumbing issues with the landlord as well.

Can I choose a different water supplier at this address?

Drinking-water supply is organised by service area. Check your address with Evides or the Vewin finder; a lower tariff elsewhere does not make that company available at your home. You must still arrange registration or a move when you are the account holder.

Water is included in my rent. Should I register myself?

Ask the landlord who holds the supplier contract and how your water costs are settled. If the landlord supplies and bills the water, first clarify that arrangement instead of opening a second account. Ask for the supplier invoice, relevant readings and an explanation of any shared-cost allocation.

I cannot find the meter or the opening reading. What should I do?

Look in the handover report and ask the landlord or building manager which meter serves the property. Photograph the current display and contact Evides if the handover reading is missing. Do not submit a neighbour's reading, a guessed value or an invented zero. If the home is genuinely unmetered, ask which billing category applies rather than inventing a reading.

There is a leak or no hot water in my rental. Who should I contact?

Use the supplier's official fault page for a mains outage or suspected network problem. For a leak inside the building, shared pressure equipment or a hot-water appliance, also contact the landlord or building manager promptly. A hot-water-only fault does not establish a drinking-water network outage.
