Breda
Breda gives a Tilburg renter a moated castle town with an intact historic core and student life of its own, plus direct Intercity trains towards Rotterdam and The Hague.
- City feel
- Easy commute
Breda is the next stop west on the Breda–Eindhoven railway, so Tilburg residents can change cities while staying on the same Intercity axis, with direct onward trains to Rotterdam and The Hague and a position between Rotterdam and Antwerp. The economy mixes logistics, regional offices and the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, with the Royal Military Academy in the castle. For someone who likes Tilburg's student energy but looks west for work, Breda is the natural next move.

Breda keeps a castle, moats, a beguinage and Valkenberg park around its centre, whereas Tilburg lost much of its older fabric to demolition. Around the core lie former villages such as Ginneken and Princenhage, now part of the city, and outer areas like Prinsenbeek, Bavel, Ulvenhout and Teteringen, which give the city a looser, village-like fringe. Students gather around Avans, the other applied-sciences schools and the military academy, which gives the centre a young but compact feel.
