Tilburg
Living in Tilburg instead of Breda puts you in a bigger, more student-heavy city with its own festivals and venues, one direct Intercity ride along the line towards Eindhoven.
- Easy commute
- Student friendly
- City feel
Tilburg and Breda share one railway axis: Intercity trains run between them on the line from The Hague towards Eindhoven, and further services reach Roosendaal and 's-Hertogenbosch, so each can serve as the other's commuter base. Tilburg is a former wool town that has reinvented itself around Tilburg University, Fontys and Avans, logistics and a strong cultural calendar. It suits renters who work in Breda or Rotterdam but want a city with its own festival and music scene.

Tilburg is divided into districts of distinct character: central streets with shops and cafés, post-war areas with small brick houses and apartments, mid-century apartment blocks in Tilburg-Noord, pockets of detached homes such as Zorgvlied, and Reeshof, the newest and most populous district. The mix suits students and young workers around the university and centre, and families in the outer districts. Breda's historic moat-and-castle setting is not matched here, since much of Tilburg's older fabric was lost to redevelopment.
