About WML

Who WML is, where it supplies drinking water and what renters should check first.

WML is the drinking-water supplier for Limburg. Its household guidance distinguishes new registration, an existing customer's move and deregistration, with account management in mijnWML. For renters, the key questions are who pays the supplier, which meter belongs to the home, and which readings apply at key handover.

Where WML supplies water

Limburg is the regional starting point, not proof of address recognition or a completed account. Check the precise address with WML, particularly for a new building or unusual house-number addition. WML's faults page also distinguishes the public network from the building's own installation.

Your WML account, step by step

From registering a new home to the final bill: how WML handles each step, with a direct link to the official page for it.

  1. Step 1

    Register a home with WML

Use WML's official new-customer route with the key-handover date and meter reading. Its household moving page says to register within eight days of moving into the supply area and that processing requires the reading. Contact WML if the date or address cannot be entered correctly. Before registering, check your tenancy agreement and ask who holds the water account. A separate meter does not by itself prove that you need a direct contract: the landlord may invoice the water. Confirm the arrangement to avoid paying twice.

  2. Step 2

    Meter readings for WML

Provide the reading for the actual key date through the moving flow; use the separate annual meter-reading route for annual requests. If the display or meter is inaccessible, ask WML and the landlord how to establish the correct reading instead of guessing. Where the home has a meter, check that it serves your home, especially in a shared meter cupboard. Follow the supplier’s display instructions and do not invent a reading if access is impossible. Ask the landlord or building manager for access or a dated reading. For a genuinely unmetered home, confirm the applicable billing arrangement instead.

    Submit a reading
  3. Step 3

    Moving with WML

For a move within the region, register the new address under the existing customer details and close the old address after key return. WML permits temporary accounts for both homes. It warns that deregistration is only backdated by up to one month, so do not leave the old contract running. At each key handover, record the actual reading and meter number if the home has a meter, photograph the display and keep the handover report. For an unmetered supply, confirm the supplier’s or landlord’s billing arrangement instead. Use the dates you receive and return the keys, which may differ from the day you move your belongings. Keep the supplier’s confirmation and a forwarding address for the final bill.

  4. Step 4

    Bills and tariffs at WML

WML separates water consumption, a capacity-based fixed charge, taxes and a statutory inspection contribution. A standard household connection example is not a quote for every building. Ask which capacity/category applies and distinguish the drinking-water account from water-board charges. An instalment is an advance, not an all-inclusive price. For a metered supply, compare opening and closing readings; for an unmetered supply, verify the applicable units or billing category. Check the billing dates, consumption, fixed charges and tax lines on the settlement. A short tenancy or low consumption does not automatically remove applicable fixed charges. Use the current official tariff schedule rather than a national average to budget.

Questions about WML

Answers about registering, moving, meter readings, bills and water quality with WML, based on its official pages.

Which date should I use for WML registration: moving day or key handover?

WML uses the key-handover date, when you become responsible for the home, and asks you to register within eight days. Record the meter then, even if you move your furniture later. Its FAQ says registration and deregistration start from key handover rather than a future planned moving date.

Why is WML still sending advances for the home I already left?

WML says ongoing advance bills without a final bill can mean the old address has not been deregistered. Submit the reading from key handover through mijnWML or contact customer service. Its FAQ limits backdated deregistration to one month, so do not wait for the next tenant to resolve it.

Should I open a second WML customer number while I have two homes?

WML's guidance says you can register the new address under your existing customer number and temporarily have two homes. After handing back the old keys, deregister that address with its final reading. Keep both handover dates clear so the overlap is recorded rather than accidentally ending the wrong supply account.

Why might my WML fixed charge differ from the household example on the tariff page?

WML relates the fixed charge to meter capacity, while the volume charge follows consumption. Its tariff explanation also includes a contribution for legally required checks of drinking-water installations. Compare the correct meter category and all bill components; a sample household's total is not a universal price for every connection.

Can we just change the name on a WML contract after a separation?

WML explicitly says a current contract's name cannot simply be changed and asks separating customers not to make these changes through mijnWML. Check whose name the contract is in and follow its separation guidance or contact customer service. Do not try to solve the change by editing another person's account details.

Why can one WML annual bill use two different water prices?

WML changes tariffs on 1 January, while the period covered by your annual bill can cross that date. Its tariff page therefore explains that two prices may appear on one bill. Check the billed periods and readings before treating that as a duplicate charge or assuming the newer price applies to the whole year.

Can I choose a different water supplier at this address?

Drinking-water supply is organised by service area. Check your address with WML or the Vewin finder; a lower tariff elsewhere does not make that company available at your home. You must still arrange registration or a move when you are the account holder.

Water is included in my rent. Should I register myself?

Ask the landlord who holds the supplier contract and how your water costs are settled. If the landlord supplies and bills the water, first clarify that arrangement instead of opening a second account. Ask for the supplier invoice, relevant readings and an explanation of any shared-cost allocation.

I cannot find the meter or the opening reading. What should I do?

Look in the handover report and ask the landlord or building manager which meter serves the property. Photograph the current display and contact WML if the handover reading is missing. Do not submit a neighbour's reading, a guessed value or an invented zero. If the home is genuinely unmetered, ask which billing category applies rather than inventing a reading.

There is a leak or no hot water in my rental. Who should I contact?

Use the supplier's official fault page for a mains outage or suspected network problem. For a leak inside the building, shared pressure equipment or a hot-water appliance, also contact the landlord or building manager promptly. A hot-water-only fault does not establish a drinking-water network outage.
