The Role and Responsibilities

The specific duties of a huismeester can vary, but they generally include:

Minor Repairs: Acting as the first port of call for small technical issues within the apartments or in the common areas (e.g., a broken lightbulb in the hallway, a jammed communal door).

Supervision: Overseeing the work of other service providers, such as cleaning companies, gardeners, and elevator maintenance technicians.

Enforcing Rules: Ensuring residents adhere to the building's internal regulations (huishoudelijk reglement), such as rules about waste disposal or noise.
